Hmmmm. Should I go to a Homeschool Convention this year?

Yes. Yes you should.
Why? and How?

Stay tuned. I'll let you know. I've been doing it for a while and I never want to go. It's a LONG drive, takes LOTS of planning (and $$) and I have to find matching shoes.

But even though I feel that way EVERY year, this year, this is where we'll be. Why? So I can see you. Your presence helps ME!

Scroll all the way down, or head over to the Live Events tab to find out when and where we'll be this year.

First, WHY? Here are Three GREAT reasons to attend a homeschool convention in 2023:

1) Continuing Education. When I was a public school teacher (I try not to shudder every time, but I still do it a little!) we had "Continuing Ed Hours" we had to accomplish every year - to keep us up on educational trends, and just keep us fresh and inspired. It worked. I didn't give the same lesson twice, added to my repertoire of problem solving, and learned from the other teachers who attended. A homeschool convention is just like that - an investment in YOUR education and tool box of being an EXCELLENT administrator for your children.

2) Motivation & Camaraderie: (I totally spelled that correctly on the FIRST TRY! Y'all woo hoo!) Just like we sometimes join co-ops simply so that our children can see that they're not alone - we should go to giant conventions simply to SEE ALLLL the types of people, shapes and sizes of families, and get plenty of opinions that we have the prerogative to reject! We get ownership of the FACT, from our own eyes, that we're not alone. We don't have to believe the stats, we can experience the lines at the coffee bar!

3) New Curriculum + Support: Whether you're just starting out, or in your 21st year (that's me!) There is ALWAYS something new that you haven't seen becauseAndrew Pudewa of IEW you didn't know you needed it.  If you don't find something new, you DO see your old curriculum, and the creators, and you get to HUG them and say "You are our favorite Math Teacher!" and get a picture - my kids each have been thrilled to grab a selfie with Mr. Demme of Math U See, and here's a picture my awesome hubby snapped of me at the HEAV convention last June, as I try hard not to gush all over Andrew Pudewa.  I'm telling him how his amazing writing system and lessons helped my boys (and girls - but they were a bit easier!) get a GREAT handle on writing amazing paragraphs and now even novels! They LOVE writing!

P.S. Those aren't affiliate links. I just REALLY like those two mainstays throughout the years, and I like to help.

So - now you know WHY you should go. Stay tuned this week - I'll tell you HOW to do it without too much trouble.
