Finding your Why...

Every thing we attempt has a "why" attached to it. When we begin a new habit, we need results to keep us going, so that our "why" changes and adds to our resolve. "Why?" "Because I'm already seeing results." This is why your foreign language studies need to be put into use immediately. Without that immediate use, it's difficult to keep going with Homeschool Spanish, (or with Homeschooling at all!) As you begin (or continue) your Homeschool Spanish lessons and studies, be sure to stop and ask yourself again, "why?" Putting words to the motivation behind becoming more influential in...
What about when..... (aka Do they ever grow up?)

I hear from a lot of homeschool parents who are just starting out. They frequently ask, "But what about when....?"Their children are only a few years old, or their concern is many years in the future. I smile and say, "It'll be ok." That's not much of a comfort, but it's true. The way I learned it is from a 14 year old. This sweet girl was at my house for a Homeschool Spanish class, and she noticed I was tired, down trodden. I had baby number 4 or five on the way, I don't remember. She asked, "Anything I...
Comparison of the Year: Bingo vs Homeschooling

In my last blog, I discussed the marked benefit of learning Spanish via my specially formatted Spanish Bingo games. How much different is learning, in general? Or even homeschooling as a lifestyle, on the the whole? Consider these four points; the exact same four points that were made with the last blog about Flip Flop Spanish Bingo Games. FIRST: X+1This theory, X+1, teaches that your goal should be pushing you one step past where you are, but shouldn't be too far to reach. This is why we don't discuss quantum physics with five-year-olds, and also why reviewing the same material...
All about bingo....

I love creating new products and am working on more Spanish Bingo games as the holidays come around. Valentine's Day is one we didn't have a game for yet, so I'm enjoying feeling all lovey-dovey and sweet as I draw and choose the words to make sentences for your young students. The best thing about Bingo Games in Spanish is that it hits all the important highlights of learning a language, of making it truly absorptive, as well as all the highlights of making it do-able in the Real Life Homeschool World. (Not the "my house is a magazine world...
A blast from the past: A letter to my first class (18 years ago!)

I'm happy to say I feel the same every year. I just didn't know it yet!I'm enjoying happy memories about these kiddos from Waco, Texas, who are now 30 years old, or older!~~~~~~~~~~~~~To my first class: el 22 de mayo, 2000 I know that a teacher’s first class is always supposed to be special, and perhaps that is why I feel the way I do about y’all. At the same time, I can’t imagine moving to a new school district and getting a new classroom (without this beautiful green carpet! Whatever will I do?) with new students that could possibly...
